Maple, Walnut & Birch Hybrid Drum Shells

Hybrid shell construction is central to the Mapex Saturn sound. Maple and walnut combinations bring together maple's full, balanced character with the darker tone and low-end projection associated with walnut. Within the Saturn Evolution range, birch and walnut hybrid shells provide another distinctive option, combining the articulate attack of birch with the depth of walnut for a punchier, drier response. This variety gives drummers plenty of scope to choose a Saturn kit around their preferred sound and musical style.

Mapex Saturn Evolution

Mapex Saturn Evolution Drum Kits take the Saturn concept further with technology and design ideas influenced by the Mapex Black Panther Design Lab. Chamber-specific construction adjusts elements such as shell thickness, drum depth and bearing edges according to the size of each drum, while the SONIClear Attenuation System is designed to give players greater control over the response and resonance of their kit. Selected configurations even combine birch/walnut toms with a maple/walnut bass drum to balance clear, punchy highs with a warm and rounded low end.
